Barefoot Bride

What do you do when your best friend tells you a bunch of wedding dresses are being sent to your house and you need to find a husband for a photo shoot by the time she gets to LA? Well, you ask your boyfriend if it’s cool to solicit random men to be your hubby for a day and start researching locations in Malibu.

I was never the girl dreaming up her fantasy wedding at a young age. While my friends pored over bridal magazines and cut out photos to stick in their ‘Future Wedding’ scrapbooks, you could usually find me plotting out the next movie we were going to make or laying out pages for my fashion magazine game on CD-ROM.

As much of a hopeless romantic as I am, weddings were just never my thing. Hell, I still don’t even know if I’m completely convinced of the whole idea, but I have to admit it was pretty fun playing bride in this collaboration with Lace & Liberty and Dressmesewchic.

Despite our efforts, finding a husband on short notice is no easy feat, so by default my boyfriend of a mere 6 months had to do the job. What a trooper! Still can’t believe Polly finagled us into a wedding inspiration shoot, but I really can’t complain about how it turned out…

We also worked with an amazing florist and make-up artist. I couldn’t have been happier with the results of both! Nicole over at The Bloemist created the most stunning bouquets, while the lovely Catherine Taafe had me looking like a beautiful bohemian bride.

Along El Matador State Beach, we blushed as passersby shouted their congratulations on our “nuptials.” But in the end, we just decided to lean into it, embracing our role as newlyweds in some seriously conjugal costumes. We’re definitely not there quite yet, but I’m sure Polly’s striking photography could’ve convinced you otherwise. ;)
